What is the Architecture of a Movement?

Debra Josephson

What is the architecture of a movement?

One brick is one person. All the bricks together and we are what? How about something like the Taj Mahal? The MUSE Campaign (Musicians United to Save the Earth) is about building a powerful presence, a musical movement.

Our plan is clear: we need You, brick by brick. We need your voice, your will to act, your imagination, your art, your writing, your music, your conversation, your style, your dollars, your vote, your activism. Your yes.

We can't fight this without you. We are ordinary people. We're trying to build an extraordinary force for change, by bringing a great number of people together to take action. By acting in ways that lower greenhouse gases back down to safe levels.

Let's bring a mission to the party; let's cool our planet down and create a new way of living that doesn't threaten life. Hey, we'll say it: let's bloody well change the world for the better. This time we have to do it. It's a green alert, an ecological tsunami. A great greenhouse Godzilla.

First we invite you to join our community. If you are a musician/songwriter, join the Muse Campaign. Please write a song to save the environment and help stop global warming. Bring music to the mission, bring your songs to the movement.

Tell your friends about us. Express yourself, sing, write, draw, dance, drum, demand that our political leaders join the fight to prevent a climate catastrophe before it's too late.

Let's build a great house of friends and fellows, all ages, all over the world. In the midst of bad news and tales of woe, greed and cruelty, great good has happened throughout time. Good people have always tried to help make it a better world and succeeded.

We, together, can do good united for common cause. Truth is we need to unite for common cause and make a technological, psychological, international, cultural, climatologically awesome miracle happen. We need a massive movement, right now, built out of each one of you.

And please, whether you get into our thing or not, begin a campaign of personal conservation. What you can't conserve, neutralize by becoming a carbon neutral household. We have suggestions. They may not be perfect, they may be very debatable, but we have to start somewhere, so we're starting .

What's important is that each of us plays a small part. Do as many things as you personally can to lower greenhouse gas emissions. This will add up to one huge push that people in power won't be able to ignore. Plus what you do will contribute to lowering greenhouse emissions. And that's just doing the right thing. Don't over-think it. Don't be lazy either. Remember, it's just like when a quarter in a vending machine adds up to profits of 54 million dollars in a single year. That's a real profit for one smart business owner who understood, it all adds up.

Stop global warming, cool our planet, prevent climate catastrophe. We are going to do it together. One, two, three, ordinary people (times) a few million, and we will build something that will be remembered forever. Ordinary people, like us, are being called up.

The age of heroes and heroines has begun. Talk about it, sing about it, write about it, design, draw, dance, talk, talk, and talk, march, vote, record, photograph, read, write, paint, u-tube it, cartoon, write letters, holler, rally, march, mural, teach, conserve, whatever. Dig the reality of global warming deep in until it sticks and do your thing.

Create community, chaos, creativity, clash, care, cooperate, cool it, discuss it, deal with it. Live and let live. Be the legend. Ordinary people making big stories for future generations. Clich? Collide with reality and become coherent, connected, celebration.

We care. Individually and collectively, we are standing up for life: big people, animals, plants, earth, sky, water, family, friends, little kids and baby beings.

Hello, we're awake now, where do we begin, what's next.
